A year has gone by in the blink of an eye. I can hardly believe it.
We renewed our lease for another 2 years on the UES. We know this rental isn't our forever home but it sure feels convenient to be a block away from Claire's school and to live in a building with neighbors and a staff we know well. Plus the prospect of house hunting with the volatile housing market seems too daunting a task to take on.
Claire is getting so grown up. She celebrated her first birthday in Central Park and her second birthday in Carl Schurz Park. She's loving her daycare and is in camp there this summer before she transitions to preschool this fall. The saying is true; it all goes by way too quickly.
I left the Jewish Museum and took a new role at the Children's Museum of Manhattan. Last year, I was approached by my former boss at Lincoln Center about a potential position at the organization she had recently started working for just a few months earlier. I'd just received a promotion at the Jewish Museum and wasn't really on the job hunt but was excited about the prospect of working for my former boss and mentor again. A few months later, I started as the Director of Development at CMOM. It's a messy, disorganized place but I've grown so much professionally there already. I've built the Development staff and have had so many opportunities to work on large scale projects. It's interesting, tough, time consuming, but ultimately very rewarding work. I'm excited to see what the future holds for my career there.
My mom is officially in remission. She still has her chemo port and goes to her oncologist regularly for check-ins and tests but for now, things are looking good on the cancer front. She went back to work and while it's good for her mental health, she took a spill at her new office and broke her shoulder. She's finally on the mend. We Face-Time often but it's not the same. She's had a very very tough year but things are looking up on the health front.
In happier family news, both my brother and Alex's sister have gotten married. My brother and his wife are expecting their first baby in November.
Alex and I are also expecting another addition to our family, a second little girl due in December. Maybe it's because I'm super busy with work and a toddler and orchestra and serving on the board of a dance company but this time around, it's all going by very quickly and I'm less hyper focused on every detail of the pregnancy. Maybe it's also a bit of confidence knowing that I've already done this.
